Call Your Representatives!
As of June 1st, nine states - Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Utah, Ohio, Georgia, Alabama, Missouri, and Louisiana - have passed legislation designed to severely limit and/or outright ban access to abortion care. In addition to directly criminalizing what is fundamentally health care as well as preventing access to a cornerstone of reproductive rights, these bills are also an attempt to chip away at Roe v. Wade via the U.S. Supreme Court.
While Congress, especially the Democratic majority House, has yet to get involved, now is still a good time to call your Representatives to let them know that abortion is health care and you will not accept any legislation designed to limit or prevent access. And if you live in one of the nine states where legislation has already been passed in 2019, be sure to call your state representatives and make sure they know just how unpopular this legislation is, not only with state residents like yourself but also nationwide. Let them know that you expect them to vote accordingly - or you'll give your support to another candidate in the next election.
